Dark Reign Redux

Attack

The attack command directs your units to shoot at the specific target that you specify.

Simply left-clicking on a hostile target while you have one or more units selected is the same as issuing the attack command on that target. However, by specifically issuing the attack command, you can direct most types of units to fire at a targeted location on the ground, rather than at a building or a unit. You can also use this to force your units to shoot a friendly or neutral target that otherwise would not be attacked.

You can also issue this command with a structure that has attack capability, such as a Laser Turret, and direct it to attack a specific target or to attack the terrain around it. Because such turrets cannot move, the “Attack” command is the same as the “Attack Without Moving” command for them.

Attacking the ground can destroy trees, bushes, and certain other terrain obstacles. You can use this to open up new paths or to clear space for constructing buildings.

If you target this command on the ground, the units will continue shooting repeatedly at that spot and will not stop until you issue them another order. Even if their Independence is set to HIGH, they will not switch targets. They will try to flee from enemy attacks, but they will keep coming back to doggedly shoot at the location you specified. Thus, you should be careful if enemy units come into range when you are using this function, lest your units become easy to pick off.
