Movement Types
All units have a movement type, which affects how they traverse terrain. These movement types are:
- Foot: Mostly the movement type of infantry, this unit walks on two legs. Foot soldiers can traverse all types of slopes and cliffs; they are blocked only by tall mountains. They move slightly faster along roads than regular dirt, and are slowed by swamps, rough terrain, and slopes.
- Wheeled: Wheeled vehicles are slowed significantly by swampy or rocky terrain, but move much faster than normal across hard-packed roads. Wheeled units are limited in the slopes that they can navigate; they cannot cross severe cliffs.
- Track: Tracked vehicles rumble over terrain on tank treads. They are effectively wheeled vehicles that are affected less drastically by terrain. They are slowed a bit by swampy land and gain a slight speed boost on hard-packed dirt and roads. As with wheeled vehicles, track vehicles are limited in how steep of a slope they can cross.
- Hover: Hover vehicles can go virtually anywhere. They can cross water and traverse almost all terrain at exactly the same speeds. However, hover vehicles do slow down on certain types of uneven terrain, and they cannot cross most slopes at all.
- Flying: Flying units are, effectively, immune to terrain. They can cross any terrain (other than that which is totally impassible to all units) and do not experience any speed bonuses or drawbacks regardless of what they traverse.
