Alpheus Togra • Gregor Triklin • Jebediah Radec Alpheus TograAlpheus Togra grew up in the spotlight. With the Chancellor of the global commonwealth as his father and mother with a Nobel Prize in physics, many expected great things from the young Togra. Life changed suddenly when Togra was nine. His father was assassinated marking the beginning of the end of the commonwealth. His mother put everything into schooling him, using his education as a distraction after the loss of her husband. Togra was a rare genius, and by his early twenties he had surpassed his mother’s highly distinguished reputation. Though trained as a molecular physicist, Togra rejected the traditional reductionist approach to science. He held a controversial belief that matter could be easily and permanently altered at the molecular level. “The hand of man can hold the universe in its palm,” he said, “if only it can learn to unclench its fist.” Togra used his standing in the academic community, his genius and his great charisma to start a revolution in science. He focused his research on the only stable very heavy element; an exception to so many basic principles that Togra took it as proof that basic molecular physics was wrong. He invited a number of top scientists to be part of his new Togran Foundation, where inquiry into the metaphysical and a focus on the whole became an important part of their search for scientific truth. The closer Togra came to a major breakthrough, the more difficulty he had trusting his followers. The knowledge of the immense damage his research could cause in the wrong hands made him extremely secretive. Though he discussed a few details of his work with very close friends, he was careful to make sure nobody had enough details to work through to his conclusions. |
