Amping UnitsThe Amper’s boost is a poison that returns any infantry it hits to full health for a short while, but then the unit begins to gradually lose health until it dies. By default, Ampers will only use their boost automatically on ally units with red health bars. You can direct an Amper to use its boost on any infantry target at any time by using the Attack command. Poisoned units can be healed at a Hospital. However, this is often of little help if your Amper boosts multiple units at a time, because only one unit can be serviced at a Hospital at a time. The others tend to just pile up outside the building, usually dying from the poison before it is their turn to be healed. Be careful about mis-clicking with the Amper; if you have one selected and you click on one of your units, he’ll boost (that is, poison) that unit whether it needs it or not. It is possible to boost enemies as well as allies if you direct your Amper to do so manually. Just be aware that the poison takes some time to take effect, so it may be easier to simply kill the enemy instead. Also, the enemy can use Hospitals and even Medics to undo the boost’s effects and save their units, so inflicting them with poison isn’t a guaranteed kill. Note that unlike the Medic, the Amper is a vehicle and is constructed at the Assembly Plant. |
