On-Site HealingMedics are able to prolong the life spans of your infantry during combat, which allows them to get more shots off before their inevitable demise. However, this usefulness is limited by the fact that your foes are aware of this benefit as well. As such, Medics are virtually always targeted first by the enemy, and since they have little in the way of health or armor, they die almost immediately to any attack. This does, naturally, go both ways, and if the enemy is using Field Medics against you, you may wish to try targeting them first with concentrated fire, eliminating them before they can heal each other. Like any other unit that has no attack, Medics will flee when damaged, running away from the very units they are supposed to be healing. So you may need to keep an eye on your Medics and hit s occasionally if they are starting to flee too far away. A Medic cannot heal himself; however, multiple Medics can heal each other, so it’s useful to always deploy them in pairs. The Medic’s healing ability functions as a weapon, and it is therefore governed by the same behaviors that control weapon use. Be sure to set the Medic’s Independence and Pursuit Range to HIGH if you wish him to automatically heal your units. Regardless of this setting, however, Medics will not automatically heal a Scout, Sniper, or Saboteur that is morphed (probably so that they do not tip off your enemy by standing there healing a tree), so you will need to take care of this yourself. Also, it is a good idea to shift the Damage Tolerance setting of your infantry and Medics to HIGH while you have Medics on the field; otherwise, the units will run off to the hospital instead of waiting for a Medic to tend to them. |
